New product innovations and applications with optimized process-controlled melt treatment.
At the EUROGUSS 2004 from the 2nd to the 4th of March 2004 Foseco GmbH will be showing new products and processes for optimized process-controlled melt treatment and melt monitoring:
With a newly-developed electrochemical sensor
for hydrogen, currently in the final testing
stage as a prototype, it is possible to directly
measure the
hydrogen content in aluminium melts. The hydrogen sensor can be used not
only for single hydrogen measurements but also
for the continuous evaluation of
the hydrogen content. As a result, the evaluation process provides possibilities
to directly and reproducibly define the H2 concentration for example in dosing
or bale-out furnaces.
Due to its special electrochemical evaluation
cell the sensor selectively measures only the
hydrogen concentration in the melt, i. e. circulated
gases
such as
nitrogen for example or argon, which are used during melt degassing via
FDU degassing equipment do not cause incorrect
or misleading values. This provides
the possibility, by linking the FDU equipment to the sensor, to create
a self-regulating process. The function principle
is shown more closely in
a virtual furnace
model.
Pressure-tight, very compact degassing equipment is shown for the degassing,
cleaning and homogenizing of aluminium melts in pressurized dosing furnaces,
which – due to its extremely low height - can also be used in low-pressure
plants. In conjunction with this the new rotor generation for degassing equipment
will be introduced. The XSR high-efficiency rotor enables an especially effective
and swift melt cleaning – the advantages of this are illustrated in
various case studies.
For application in dosing furnaces, consumables
made from an INSURAL material specifically
designed for aluminium melts will be displayed

filling cone, riser tube and launders)
